The Apostle Paul in1Corinthians 3:9 says, “For we are labourers together with God:” and I find that most elating and heartwarming. It is a great privilege to be on God’s team. It reminds me of my earlier days in life, especially my primary school days. We then used to play a game during our Physical and Health Education practical sessions. It is called ‘Tug of War’. We were usually divided into two groups, each group standing in a line facing each other and a line drawn on the ground in between the two groups. The leader of each group was usually the biggest and strongest and the next person to him will hold his waist and the next person will hold the waist of the second person and so on until the last man in the team. The two team leaders lock arms and with the support of their team mates, try to pull each other, along with their team mates across the line while resisting being pulled over the line.

This week, his Lordship, our father in the Lord has made us see that this is actually what is going on in the spirit. Every soul is of interest to God and the devil. God wants all souls to be saved as much as satan wants all souls to perish. Peter the Apostle writes in 2Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” The fact that you and I are saved today is a fulfillment of God’s desire and the day we each gave our lives to Christ was a joyous day for heaven. Jesus says in Luke 15:10, “Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.”

God at the head of the line, with His angels, servants and children are daily involved in a tug of war contest with the devil at the head of the other line with all the fallen angels and demonic agents. This time, it is not just a game where we laugh out loud about which team pulled the other across a line. This time, it is not like the primary school game where it didn’t matter which team won since both team leaders and members were and would continue to relate as friends before and after the game respectively. This time it’s not just a game for fun. This time it is serious. Every loss counts and bites with pain and it feels worse than a bite from a viper. This is because every soul God and His team loses is a potential terrorist, rapist, armed robber, church bomber, deceiver, etc., waiting to happen. The battle is about pulling men, villages, towns, lands out of the destructive grip of the devil unto the place of true destiny.

If God could come down physically to save all men, He would have done it. The bible says in Psalms 115: 16, “The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.” This is why God became a man in the person of Jesus Christ to pay the price of sin as it is written in Romans 6: 23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” God has made the way for salvation and all that man has to do to access the salvation is to believe and confess Jesus Christ as Lord and savior according to Romans 10: 9. As simple as this is, the bible says in 2Corinthians 4:4 that, “… the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

From this we know that the unsaved are not unsaved because they want to perish but because they “know not what they do” (Luke 23: 34). Our duty is to get in the fight. We are to join this tug of war. We have to take a hold of each other’s waist. Graphically speaking, as Bishop is holding Jesus’ waist, so the reverends and district overseers should hold his waist and then follows the pastors and every other person who is a child of God. Each of us, “Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we (must) persuade men;” (2Co 5:11) in preaching, teaching, etc. to come over to Jesus and join this chariot of Chapel of Freedom Int’l Churches which is dedicated to raising a vibrant and dynamic people with glorious destinies for global impact to the glory of God and for the fulfillment of the great commission.

The good thing is that we were not saved by ourselves. God used somebody to pray for you, preach to you, teach you, follow you up, show you love, buy a bible for you, pay your transport to church, give you a gospel tract, a gospel message or music tape or CD. Your Christian life today is as beautiful as it is because somebody chose to be on God’s side to pull you across that line from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light and as Paul would say it in Colossians 1:13 we have been delivered by God (using willing men)”…from the power of darkness”, and have been “translated into the kingdom of his dear Son:”

We too must do the same for others to warn them to turn from their wicked and sinful ways unto God, else as God told Ezekiel in Ezekiel 3: 17-21, their blood would be on our hands on the day of judgement.

It is time for each of us to answer the call to the great commission of “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” planting churches where we can engage in “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:”

Our relatives, our children’s potential school teachers, out future son and daughters in-law, our business associates, name them, are being pulled over by the devil. Let us join the Lord in this tug of war and pull them all back to God.

If we will become the answer to the prayer point of Jesus when He told His disciples to “pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest” and become the labourers God needs, it will surprise you that God will use you, even you to save the lost, raise the dead, heal the sick, deliver the oppressed and preach the gospel to the poor.

It is a tug of war. Join God’s side today!
