So far in my life, I think I have studied God on a continual basis more than I have had to study any other person, being or thing and I have found out consistently that God from the very start had never acted presumptuously, and till now, He has not yet shown any sign that He would. God has always thought, talked and acted in faith.
The second thing I have noticed about God is that He has never lost confidence in Himself. He has consciously remained and acted as God. That is why He is and will ever remain the only and yet indefatigable God of the universe. In Jeremiah 32:27, He says, “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?”
The third thing, the one which gives me the most joy is that God believed in man, even me, even you, from the word go.
When He began creation in Genesis, He first of all looked like He was playing until He got to verse 26 when He began to say, “…, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
You see, His intention was not just to create beauty, His ultimate intention was to make a man unto whom He would hand over what He had created so that the man can exercise dominion on earth even as He did in heaven. In fact, He had man in mind. It is His thought of and for man that gave Him the impetus to start creation at all. No wonder the Psalmist says in Psalm 115:16, “The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men”. God’s intent was to have man control all things below heaven, including the devil who had been thrown down.
To enable or equip man, He first of all blessed man in verse 28 and said to him,“…, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”
From the above, I saw that God was specific about what He had empowered man:
- to be: Be fruitful, and multiply, that is reproductivity. That is, to have both biological children and in addition, as believers, spiritual children by way of soul winning, weaning and establishment.
- to do: replenish the earth, that is, the intelligence to ensure that the earth does not deteriorate in quality. The intelligence for example, not to deplete the ozone layer and not to destroy the forests etc.
- to control: man was to control the fish and birds and every other thing including the devil that moveth upon the earth.
Why am I writing this way today?
It is to let you know that God has so much confidence in you and me, that we in Him are able to be in charge. He has faith in His finished work in our lives.
Of course we all know that man failed God and himself and let satan takeover but God did not give up on us. He said in John 10: 10 that He knows that the thief, satan, came and comes, “…for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” He sent Jesus to die for us so we could be redeemed from under the curse. He did this to reconnect us to the blessing so we could live again perpetually in the dominion that Adam lost.
He so much believes in us that He has given us His Holy Spirit to empower us to live as conquerors. He so much believes in us that He has given us the name of Jesus, at the mention of which, every knee must bow and tongue confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the father. God knows the stuff with which He made us. Ephesians 2: 10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” We were configured for great things in Christ. God believes in His investment in us.
We now must ask ourselves; do we believe that what God has given us is enough, nay, more than enough to cause us to live above all of life’s circumstances in victory? Do we believe Colossians 1:27, that Christ in us is our hope of glory? Do we believe 2Corinthians 5: 17, that because we have relocated from the darkness of the world into the light in Christ, old things have passed away and that all things have become new? Do we believe like the apostles that at our use of the name of Jesus, the sick will be healed and demons be cast out? Do we believe that the Holy Spirit in us will quicken our mortal bodies? Do we believe like the Psalmist that we shall not die but live for God’s glory? Do we believe that God will prosper what we do because we are His faithful children? Do we believe that we are no longer living under the curse because Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law having been made a curse for us? Do we believe that we are healed by His stripes? DO WE BELIEVE?.. DO WE HAVE FAITH IN GOD?
We must go back to the basics. Faith Romans 10: 17 says comes by hearing and hearing the word of God again and again. We must give God’s word attention. Instead of allowing the bad news about the government and the economy to form insurmountable monuments in our minds, we must take God’s word to Joshua in the first chapter verses 7-8 seriously. The Message translation puts it this way, “Give it everything you have, heart and soul. Make sure you carry out The Revelation that Moses commanded you, every bit of it. Don’t get off track, either left or right, so as to make sure you get to where you’re going. And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed”
God has carefully considered you and knows that if you will walk with Him. If you consider God very well by His word, you too will see why you cannot fail if you will truly live by the word. If you will believe in God, as he believes in you, even a little, mountains will become feathers before you. HAVE FAITH IN GOD!
