As we focus on faith this month, it becomes expedient for us to know that faith is all about submitting to the will of God. It is all about enforcing the will of God in our lives and in our world. If we say we are people of faith we must be so and be seen to be so.
In Mark 11: 15- 17, it is written that Jesus and His disciples came to “Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves; And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple. And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.
Jesus could never bear to come to a place or a man’s life and leave it the same way, especially when things were not in their true order. He cleansed the temple, driving out the money changers and dove sellers, overturning their table. He let them know they were abusing the temple and that was not going to be allowed by him, even if the priests would or could do nothing about it.
Jesus said to them, “Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.” The temple of God is a place where men can come to seek God. That means that we, as the temple of God’s Holy Spirit are God’s contact addresses here on earth. God has made us locations where people who need God can come and meet with Him. When men come to us, they should experience God in all His fullness. The manifestations of the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit in our lives ought to be transformational and contagious. No wonder the devil is doing everything he can to stop us from manifesting as God’s light in this dark world.
If you will take a closer look at your life today, you may see that you are as guilty as the priests in the days of Jesus. You may have allowed and tolerated the company of ungodly men so much that they now exercise control over you. You have allowed them to redefine your Christian values and you have now become guilty of John 12: 43, “For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.” In a bid to be flexible and welcoming, you have walked away from God and your heart, the very Holy of Holies of the Holy Spirit has been corrupted with slack standards.
For some of us, we have allowed certain diseases and ungodly mindsets to become permanent secretaries in our lives. We have even began to think that it is our own cross that we have to bear. We have even convinced ourselves that we do not need to be healed to make heaven and even though that may be right, we have neglected the fact that our testimony of God’s power can do a lot more for kingdom expansion. We forget that as close friends of Jesus, like Lazarus, in john 11: 4, His intention is not that any sickness would lead us to death. He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.” We forget that His intention is that we should die of old age and satisfaction and that we should enjoy His salvation all our days according to Psalm 90: 16.
Many of us have allowed the enemy to sow tares of unbelief in our hearts and all these is so that the enemy might profit himself from us. The money changers, turned the temple into a market. A place of chatter, cheats and ungodly conversation. They turned the glorious usefulness of the temple into dirt and this provoked God greatly.
I need us to know that God deserves the praise in our lives and His praises will never be sang in our lives as long as it is the devil and all his devices that are taking turns, exchanging their roles in our lives, passing the baton from one to another.
We cannot allow the devil and his cohorts to choke out the presence of the Holy Spirit. We must rise and we must open up to Jesus. We must allow Him to come in, not just to give us a miracle but to stay as the landlord. We must allow Him to whip the devil, his demons and their counsels out. We must align ourselves to His word and let Him be Lord and savior of our lives indeed.
We must be willing to let the bad habits go. We must be ready to let the bad friends go. We must be ready to let the wrong mindsets go. We must be ready to take a bathe in His cleansing blood all over again. We must be ready to become Romans 12: 1 & 2 compliant; “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
We must stand with and in Jesus today to cast out all that pertains to the devil. We must choose to be and remain God’s temple. We must choose life over death, victory over failure, purity over unholiness and unrighteousness, the way of the Lord over the way of satan.
Today, I speak over your life, from now, every thief that has crept into your life to take away God’s presence, to leave you empty, be gone in Jesus name. I command every installation of the enemy in your life to be thoroughly uprooted in Jesus name. From today, be restored in Jesus name. Let your life begin to give out the fragrance of God. I pray for you, that you become God’s instrument of healing, deliverance and salvation in the name of Jesus Christ. I declare, your body, the temple of the Holy Spirit will never again be defiled by the enemy in Jesus name. Amen.
